Sudip Bakshi
Born
in 1965 in Calcutta, the artist has no formal academic degree from
any recognized art school but took private education on fine arts
from Sri Niranjan Pradhan, ex-principal of Government College of
Art & Crafts in Calcutta and a renowned sculptor.
He
participated in several solo exhibitions of portraits, painted in
pastel, crayon and mixed media and were based on the works of
Indian theatre personalities. He also bagged the "Shyamal
Sen Smriti Samman"
Award, a prestigious award in the circuit in 1999.
His
paintings are always inspired by the evils and exposed crimes of
the society. He is personally very much sensitive towards those
ill-fated, betrayed, under-privileged social beings. Creating an
asylum for these helpless is what he wants to achieve in the long
run.
